On a Roll!

After suffering a devastating loss in the 2008 presidential election, my teams have won big! Seeing the Republicans lose miserably in 2008 my competitive spirit was saddened and almost threw in the towel all together. My Yankees didn’t make the MLB playoffs in 2008. Peyton lost in the first round of the NFL payoffs. The Mississippi State Bulldogs were demoralized in the 2008 Egg Bowl 45-0 by their arch rival Ole Miss.

Today, I enjoyed watching my old boyfriend win his second AFC Championship. As I enjoyed this glorious come from behind victory, I realized my teams have been on a roll! The Yankees won the series this past season! The Bulldogs, lead by Dan Mullen, won the Egg Bowl big! They might not have had a winning season, but that doesn’t matter if you are victorious over Ole Miss! My husband’s alma mater Alabama won the National Title and Mark Ingram won the Heisman. I am an Independent in this state’s rivalry, but I claim that victory in the name of Punkin! Less than a year after our President took office the Republicans won a big race in Massachusetts with 1982 Cosmo model Scott Brown!

See, as excited as I am, I know my teams can’t keep rolling! And that is why I am so concerned about Super Bowl XLIV. My allegiance will always be with Peyton Manning, the New York Yankees, the GOP, and the MSU Bulldogs. However, I am worried my boy Peyton will lose, thus breaking my unprecedented winning streak! So should I use the logic of pulling for the other team just to help my true team win? Should I just quit following competitive sports? Or, should I just ride the roll until it is over?

What Can Brown Do For You?

Twice in my life I have seen the people vote against the Democrat agenda. I remember exactly where I was when I heard election returns in each outcry. True, one was about forty-five minutes ago. The vision of the populous speaking out is exhilarating. Let me reminisce!

In November of 1994, I remember hanging out with my friend Maria. Newt Gingrich and his Contract for America was being born right before my eyes on CNN. We were watching election returns at her father’s pharmacy. We had a Democrat president at the time. The Republicans were waking up from a Bush senior induced slumber! I had the same feelings of excitement I felt at four years old watching the map turn red in 1980 when Reagan was elected! All I remember was the pretty map! Watching with Maria, I felt the same thing!

Tonight, less than a year from Mr. Obama’s inauguration a nail has been driven into the Democrat’s agenda, just like Martin Luther’s nail in the church door. People of Massachusetts, and the millions in the other forty-nine states rejoicing with Scott Brown, are speaking out against the march toward socialism! No, we want to go toward a balanced budget, toward smaller government, and toward a safer nation! I hope the other forty Republicans are hearing the message too!

Republicans, please spend less, strengthen the country without enlarging the government, and don’t screw with our healthcare unless you are truly going to improve it (reduce costs, tort reform, CYA medicine, etc.)! Bill Clinton was smart enough to roll with the punches and he found success with a Republican Congress! Hopefully the President has learned something and the Republicans will remember it isn’t about legislating morality. It is more about governing the people through sound leadership so they, the people, can pursue their own happiness. Not forcing litmus tests and good ole boy beliefs down our throat.

My point is: Democrats and Republican in Washington D.C. please read your history books. Most of all, please read our Constitution. The people will follow leadership! One of my favorite movies depicts a Democrat who gets leadership and the current media!

“They want leadership. They’re so thirsty for it they’ll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there’s no water, they’ll drink the sand.”

“We’ve had presidents who were beloved, who couldn’t find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don’t drink the sand because they’re thirsty. They drink the sand because they don’t know the difference.”

Currently, our populous doesn’t know good leadership! I urge everyone who reads this to find some positive way to speak out and make our great country better! Support strong leaders with integrity, otherwise vote all the others out of office!!!
